riverbank massage in St Thomas, Jamaica

Hot spring!

sunny 30 °C

First off, I am Jamaican doing a pHd in the states. I return home twice a year. I visited this spot for the first time on my summer trip home!

Jamaica is a volcanic island; however there are not many hot springs compared to say Dominica, in the Eastern Caribbean. This particular hot spring is named after Bath in England discovered by the Romans. It is close to the Eastern tip of the Island. It was discovered in 1609 so the legend goes, by runaway slaves who were weary and injured and found sustenance and a cure from the healing powers of the spring!

My family went there to see if my brother ( with a persistent back pain) could get any relief there. We were cajoled away from the established services - a hotel by the locals....we were not the only ones! there were many regular visitors too. We were led to the actual source of the spring spouting through the rock. They convinced all of us to get these massages....They were very professional skilled and talented...we felt relaxed for days....

the smell and taste of sulphur in the water is very prominent...so if you had any doubts as to the source of this heat....
